About Us | Town and Country Clothes
We understand fashion...

Let us help you find your style.
Town & Country Clothes was founded in 1943, making it one of the oldest businesses in Mountain Brook. Laurel Bassett is the fourth owner in the store's history, and makes most of the store's jewelry. Town & Country's best features are personal service, and a wide variety of clothes, at reasonable prices. You can usually count on one-on-one service at Town & Country, and the salespeople are knowledgeable about the merchandise and happy to help you find whatever you are looking for. They have clothes for all ages and sizes, and can show you the pieces that will work best for you.Meet The Crew

About The Artist

I have always loved working with the range of colors provided by semi-precious gemstones, combined with the textures of wire and hammered metal. Much of my work is influenced by nature, and the organic and fluid properties of the metal allow the material to lend itself well to the subject matter. Tinting the patina surface of metal is also useful to complement the natural colors of gemstones, especially multi-tonal stones such as unpolished opals. I feel that the combination of different materials is the strength of my work, and it continues to give my customers something new to look at. I have recently incorporated clay pieces that I imprint with textures similar to the embossed metal, to add a new dimension to the layered materials. Earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and home accessories are available; each piece is one of a kind, and pieces shown are representative of styles that are available.
